国际眼科理事会(ICO) 是代表和服务于世界范围内眼科医生专业协会的国际组织，和世界各地眼科学科会员协会共同合作，致力于引领、激励和支持全世界范围内的眼科协会、眼科部门和相关机构，来建立一个“世界视力联盟”，从而增强眼科教育和眼科保健水平。
The International Council of Ophthalmology(ICO) works with ophthalmologic societies and others to enhance ophthalmiceducation and improve access to the highest quality eye care in order topreserve and restore vision for the people of the world. The ICO is working tobuild a “World Alliance forSight” by leading,stimulating, and supporting the efforts of ophthalmologic societies, eyedepartments, and related organizations worldwide.
WOC世界眼科大会是由国际眼科理事会(ICO)主办的全球规模最大的眼科会议，于1857年首次举办，是历史最悠久持续时间最长的国际医学会议，每两年举办一一次。2018年世界眼科大会预计有来自全球130多个国家的超过15, 00名代表出席。
